Takin’ out the Trash at Daffodil Flats

Dedicated volunteers hiked the infamous Leadmine route today to round up tires and other trash in the southern end of Linville Gorge.

… yet scattered throughout the Linville River floodplain are half-buried tires and other debris carried in during floods. (Photo: Kevin Massey)

A great crew and a successful day. This pile of junk will soon be carried out of the wilderness by volunteers working in relays to clean up their gorge. (Photo: Kevin Massey)
