Tires & Trash Removed from Pinch-In Island

As dedicated volunteers continue to round up junk from the southern end of Linville Gorge, the piles are growing and the tire count is now well over 50.  There are also bags of smaller trash, and today a giant steel cable was added to the hoard!  We’re now converging on that great day when these caches will be relayed out of the wilderness once and for all!

This new pile of tires and trash from the Pinch-In flood plain was the focus of today’s efforts. Another 10 tires are hidden in the woods behind. What a great crew!

Allegra, who famously carried bucket loads of trash up Pinch-In last year, was determined to pack out yet another load.

Community members passing through on a grueling Pinch-In-to-Unnamed itinerary nevertheless helped carry tires and bags of trash south to the main cache at the LGT river crossing. (Photo: Rick Davis posted in The Linville Gorge Facebook Group)
