Jack-o-lantern mushrooms (Omphalotus olearius) Linville Gorge
Jack-o-lantern mushrooms (Omphalotus olearius) are infamously confused with chanterelles by novice foragers, which can be a serious problem because jack-o-lanterns will make you terribly sick. The better experience with jack-o-lanterns is to see them at night when they glow faintly with bio-luminescence. (Photo: Jon)

The yellow flowers make it clear that this is wood sorrel (Oxalis stricta), though the leaves could easily be confused with those of clover. (Photo: Jon)
