SAWS Busy on LGT

Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards (SAWS) has a crew removing deadfall on the Linville Gorge Trail.  Crosscut saw work is their specialty, though they do all kinds of trail work.

A large section removed from a fallen oak on the Linville Gorge Trail.

Saw jobs have been mapped in recent weeks by crews collecting trash along the river corridor.  SAWS plans to have three, one-week hitches between now and the end of September.

Linville Gorge SAWS job sites
About a hundred fallen trees have been mapped along the Linville Gorge Trail and Conley Cove Trail.

SAWS runs projects in Tennesee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia.  We’re lucky to have their help here in Linville Gorge.  More info can be found on their website and facebook.
