Volunteers started clearing overgrown brush today on the Linville Gorge Trail switchbacks below Babel Tower.

Recent snowmelt has turned the Kistler Highway into a muddy mess. The crew met at the Info Cabin and had to be shuttled down to Babel Tower in 4WDs. (Photo: Kevin Massey)

The LGT was well designed in this area and the switchbacks are very nice. A little brushing and trailbed work and this will be a great section of trail capable of supporting the many visitors to Babel Tower during the summer season. (Photo: Kevin Massey)

After a sunny start the rains came in, so the crew set up tarps at lunchtime. (Photo: Kevin Massey)

This is the infamous graffiti at Babel Tower. Several removal techniques were tried in preparation for an upcoming event focused on this tedious task. (Photo: Kevin Massey)

A lot of families on this crew. Nice to see everyone included. (Photo: Mike Jones)
