Within a week after high winds\u00a0almost completely blocked the Mountains-to-Sea Trail with fallen\u00a0trees, the Linville Gorge hiking community organized a large team to quickly clear the clogged ridgeline at Chimney Gap. \u00a0The work site was a half mile long, beginning over a mile into the wilderness area. \u00a0The project was initiated\u00a0by Mike Jones on\u00a0The Linville Gorge Facebook Group<\/a>, and was brought to fruition through support from Catawba Valley Community College<\/a>, Forest Service Grandfather Ranger District<\/a>, Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail<\/a>, Southern Appalachian Wilderness Stewards<\/a>, and Wild South<\/a>.<\/p>\n
